Recently the Sydney Morning Herald (sister to the Melbourne Age,) has produced a series of “explainers”. These are lengthy articles that provide the background to topical issues from a range of perspectives. This issue focussed on refugee policy, and featured quotes from spokespeople from the UNHCR, the Refugee Council of Australia, the Department of Home affairs, Allison Battison (Human rights lawyer) and a number of detained refugees. It would be a most useful resource for students, or anyone who wants a balanced view of the issue.
