We aim to raise awareness in our local area of the issues faced by asylum-seekers in Australia and its overseas detention centres in Nauru and Papua New Guinea.
In conversation with Bruno Lettieri, Mehrdad, an Iranian refugee, and Liz, an Australian immigration lawyer, tell us about the challenges they faced to find a life of freedom in Australia.
Scattered People is a story about the healing power of music, bringing together people, cultures and countries while exploring Australiansβ attitudes towards people seeking asylum. Book tickets on 03/9261 7125, or on the library website.Poster and Trailer

Karima Hakimi, a Hazara refugee from Afghanistan who is detained in Indonesia is hoping to raise enough money to apply for private sponsorship for herself and her family to Canada. She has already raised over $17,000 of the $60,000 she needs. If you can make a donation, that would help her and her husband, four children and elderly mother to apply for re-settlement in Canada.
