Hani is just like us, with the same hopes and dreams. She wants to pursue her vocation, stand on her own two feet, and live an independent life with dignity. 
Hani was 16-years-old – still a child – when she was forced to flee Somalia and endure a treacherous journey in search of safety and stability. She reached Christmas Island in 2014, where she was detained for 12 months by the Australian Government. Hani didn’t let her situation drag her into despair but instead poured her energy into uplifting other people in detention with her, as well as focusing on her poetry writing.
